SSI Stress and Rescue Diver Course – Koh Lipe

The Rescue Diver Course is the most challenging and rewarding of the non-professional diving courses. Building on what you’ve already learned in previous diving and First Aid (React Right) training, this course teaches you to recognize and prevent diver problems — and how to manage them if they occur.

This is the first course where, as a recreational diver, you start thinking about other divers as well as yourself. It covers self-rescue techniques, rescuing other divers, missing diver scenarios, and recognizing diver stress or panic in others — plus the correct way to respond.

Knowledge
The course starts on dry land, reviewing the rescue course video and theory chapters. You’ll complete knowledge reviews for each chapter, prepare an emergency action plan, and finish with a final exam.

Dive Skills
Practice new rescue skills in confined water sessions off Koh Lipe’s beaches, starting with self-rescue and refreshing many skills from the Open Water Course. Skills covered include handling tired and panicked divers, and responding to both responsive and non-responsive divers in trouble.

The Fun Stuff
The course wraps up with final scenarios that can be sprung on you at any time — putting together everything you’ve learned to handle a fully unresponsive diver situation, from underwater to land. It’s a seriously fun course that changes the way you think about diving.
