Ready to become a certified diver? The SSI Open Water Diver Course is the world’s most popular scuba diving certification and your first step into a lifetime of underwater adventures.

Complete your training with us on Koh Lipe and earn an internationally recognised certification that allows you to dive anywhere in the world to a maximum depth of 18 metres.

We keep our classes small and personal, usually with just 1–2 students per instructor and a guaranteed maximum of 4 students per class. This gives you plenty of individual attention, more time to practise your skills, and a relaxed learning experience.

Learn Before You Arrive

Your course begins with digital theory through the MySSI app, which you can complete before arriving on Koh Lipe.

Once you’re here, your instructor will review the most important points with you, introduce you to your scuba equipment, and show you how to assemble and prepare everything for your dives.

Learn Your Scuba Skills

Next, you’ll head into a calm, confined-water area from one of Koh Lipe’s beaches.

Across one or two training sessions, you’ll practise more than 20 essential scuba skills, including:

• Mask and regulator skills
• Buoyancy control
• Equipment use
• Emergency procedures
• Safe ascents and descents

For certification, you’ll also need to complete a 200-metre swim and a 10-minute survival float.

Four Open Water Dives

Once you’re comfortable with your skills, it’s time to explore Koh Lipe underwater.

You’ll complete 4 open-water training dives by speedboat at dive sites around Tarutao National Marine Park, putting everything you’ve learned into practice while discovering coral reefs and marine life.

Your first two dives are completed to a maximum depth of 12 metres, followed by two further dives to a maximum depth of 18 metres.

During the dives, you’ll continue developing your buoyancy, navigation, dive planning and emergency skills while gradually becoming a more confident and independent diver.

Complete Your Theory at Home

Completing your MySSI theory before you arrive means less classroom time on Koh Lipe and more time enjoying the water.

With your theory finished in advance, the practical part of the course can normally be completed in just 2–3 days.
