SSI Open Water Course – Koh Lipe

The SSI Open Water Course is the world’s most popular scuba diving certification, having introduced millions of people to the underwater world. Complete your training here on Koh Lipe and earn a certification that lets you dive anywhere in the world for life.

We keep classes small and flexible — normally 1–2 students per instructor, with a guaranteed maximum of 4 students per class — so you get plenty of personal attention and get to know your instructor along the way.

Knowledge Development
The course starts with theory via the MySSI app, which you can complete before you even arrive. Once on Koh Lipe, you’ll watch a short video and go through equipment set-up with your SSI Instructor.

New Skills
Practice over 20 new scuba skills in a confined water area off one of Koh Lipe’s beautiful beaches, across 1–2 sessions. A 200-metre swim and 10-minute survival float are required for certification.

Open Water Dives
Put your new skills to the test over 4 Open Water dives, exploring stunning coral reefs by speedboat in Tarutao National Marine Park. You’ll practice buoyancy, emergency skills, dive planning, and navigation. Two dives are completed on day one to a maximum depth of 12 meters, and two on day two to a maximum depth of 18 meters, with breaks back at the dive shop in between.

Complete Your Theory Before You Arrive
Sign up on the MySSI app to finish the theory portion at home, cutting classroom time on the island and leaving more time in the water. This shortens the course to just 2–3 days on Koh Lipe.
