How To Get to Koh Lipe

Come to Koh Lipe and join us for some spectacular SCUBA diving around dive sites in the Tarutao marine park. The Island itself is located very near the Malaysian border, on the south-west coast of Thailand. It is in the very heart of the Tarutao National Marine Park. The National park is composed of about fifty islands of which only Koh Lipe is developed for tourism. Read below for detailed instruction on how to get to Koh Lipe.

Should you need assistance it is no problem for us to arrange your transfers from Hat Yai to Pak Bara pier. From Pak Bara we can also arrange your speedboat boat or ferry tickets to come to visit us on Koh Lipe. We can also arrange accommodation in our Eco resort while here and your return journey to the mainland, the airport or elsewhere.

Once you disembark on the platform you will need to collect your bags. Then make your way to the transfer desk to pay 250 baht for your longtail transfer to the shore. From this fee 50 baht goes to the Longtail boat transfer. The other 200 baht goes to the National Park; this fee is mandatory. Once you have purchased your ticket, you can then board a longtail boat, which will transfer you to Pattaya Beach.

Our shop is located on Sunrise beach on the east side of Koh Lipe. It is directly in between Varin Village resort and the Wapi Resort. Once you transfer to the beach you can either walk (10-15minutes) or take a motorbike taxi to get to us. The motorbike taxi is 50baht per person. With luggage the taxi is of course recommended.

It is about a 10 – 15 minute walk from Pattaya Beach to our dive centre. We are located right on Sunrise Beach, Koh Lipe, directly behind behind Sunrise restaurant.

From the beach walk onto Walking Street and follow the blue road all the way up until you reach the end. Walking street is a long road with a small hill at the end. It is approximately 400 metres long. Once you reach the end, you will arrive at a cross roads. You should continue straight across the crossroad for about 30 metres. There you will see a sign for Varin Village resort. Follow the road round to the left instead of entering Varin. After turning left continue to walk another 40m and you will see Adang Sea Divers on the right hand side.

Our Dive School is located in between Varin Village and Wapi resort and behind Sunrise Resturant.

Once on the platform you need to collect you bags. Make your way to the transfer ticket desk. You will be asked to pay 250 baht for your longtail transfer to the shore. From this fee 50 baht of this goes to the Longtail boat for yoru transfer to shore. The remaining 200 baht goes to the National Park; this fee is mandatory. Once you have purchased your ticket, you can then board your longtail boat, which will take you to Sunrise Beach.

The longtail boat will arrive on Sunrise Beach close to the local school. The drop off area is just a little further north on the same beach as where we are located. You can walk south down the beach so with the ocean on your left side. We are about 300 metres down the beach. You will eventually arrive at Sunrise Restaurant which is located directly on the beach. When you arrive to the Sunrise restaurant turn directly right. Follow the short 40 metres path and you will find us directly in front of you.

If you don’t wish to walk down the beach, you can also walk through the back road that runs parallel to the beach behind all the resorts. We are about a 300-metre walk down this road. Then you will see Adang Sea Divers Eco Lodge located on your left hand side. Its directly after the Wapi Resort.

If you have lots of bags you may not wish to walk the 300 meters. In this case there are plenty of motorbike taxis that will be more than happy to transfer you down the road to our dive centre. The motorbike taxi is 50 baht per person.

Travelling to Koh Lipe from:

Take a flight, a train or bus to Hat Yai. If you fly with AirAsia or NokAir in high you can book all the way through to Koh Lipe so your flight, bus transfer & ferry ticket is all included in the price provided by both companies.

For a cheaper option, it is possible to travel to Koh Lipe by bus & train via Hat Yai. Although with a lot of low cost airlines fly form Bangkok to Hat Yai there are many very cheap flight deal running.

Current airlines running from Don Muang Airport to Hat Yai are AirAsia, NokAir & Thai Lion Air.

From Suvarnabhumi the only airline is Thai Smile.

Dozens of travel agencies will arrange your minibus (200 – 300 baht) or private taxi (between 1500 and 1800 baht) to Pak Bara (2 hours one way).

We can book If you have to spend the night numerous hotels are available in Hat Yai as well as in Pak Bara. We can easily book a hotel for you. Just send us an email or fill in our booking form.

Once in Pak Bara you can pick up your speed boat tickets for Koh Lipe at the Adang Sea Tour office (1200 baht return ticket). The boats leave Pak Bara at 11.30 AM & 3.00 PM daily. It takes about 1h30 to travel from Pak Bara to Koh Lipe. On your way you will have to pay for your entry into the Tarutao Marine Park (200 baht pp).

When you arrive on Koh Lipe you will disembark on a platform in front of Pattaya beach. From there you will need to take a Longtail to Sunrise restaurant (50 baht pp). Our ecologically friendly dive resort is located right behind Sunrise restaurant. See map of Lipe below.

Take a flight with Air Asia to Langkawi or Hat Yai. You can also take a train or bus from all these locations via Hat Yai.

Tiger Air offers flights from Singapore to Hat Yai.

There is a regular ferry service to Koh Lipe. During high season there are 2 boats a day. It takes 60 min one way and the price of a one way ticket is 1200 baht with Telaga Harbour and Adang Sea Tour. You can book you ferry tickets online with telaga-terminal.com

You will have to check current speedboat times from Langkawi in our green season (May – September) as they are not consistently running.

Upon arrival at Koh Lipe, you will disembark at the immigration office on Pattaya Beach. See map of Lipe above

From there you will need to take a Longtail to Sunrise restaurant (50 baht pp). Our ecologically friendly dive centre is located right behind Sunrise restaurant. See map of Lipe above

The company Tigerline has ferries from each of these destinations to Koh Lipe. It takes 8 hours to reach Koh Lipe from Phuket and 4h30 from Lanta.

There’s also a speedboat from Koh Lanta to Koh Lipe, which takes only 3 hours. The price of a one way ticket is 2200 Baht.

It is also possible to travel by bus or mini-bus from Phuket, Krabi or Trang to Pak Bara. You will easily find one of the many agencies selling tickets to or from one of these destinations. The mini bus is the cheapest option to travel from all of these locations.

From Pak Bara it is only possible to travel by bus to Pak Bara from all these locations.

There’s a mini-bus from Songai Golok (thai border) to Hat Yai. These mini-buses arrive late so you will have to spend the night in Hat Yai. The following morning you can take an early mini-bus or taxi to Pak Bara. See from Hat Yai.
